The Origins of Garnet Stone

So, the most notable story in Greek mythology involves Hades and Persephone. The story is of a Greek God named Hades and a goddess named Persephone, the daughter of Zeus. Persephone is abducted by Hades and is taken down to the underworld. Her mother Demeter asked Hades to let her daughter come back to her, but Hades, who was smitten by Persephone, did not allow her to go back. So Demeter requests Zeus, the Greek god of the sky, to help her and set her daughter free, and Zeus abides by the request and makes sure that Persephone remains safe, Zeus sends Hermes, a messenger, and he embarks on a journey to find Persephone. When Hermes arrives, he finds Persephone and takes her with him.

So, Persephone is delighted to find Hermes, and they are just leaving, then Hades is consumed by clever thought, and he gives her a pomegranate. He believes that if she experiences the sweetness of ripe pomegranates, then she will be drawn back to him.

And it happened. Surprisingly, Persephone came each year for 3 months to visit Hades and till then the winter was there. How delighted and starstruck Hades would have been? Since then, the link between fine garnets and pomegranate seeds says that when you gift a garnet as a symbol of love, it's a promise of quick returns or a token of estranged love. Due to this myth, people have believed that the garnet is a stone that is meant to be used as a symbol of love and reuniting in addition to it the garnet and pomegranate all are related to eternity in Greek mythology.

Heal Broken Hearts

They say that healing an injured body is far easier than a broken heart. Why? Probably because emotional wounds are not visible. Feelings like longing, sadness, jealousy, and anger might kill you as the days pass, but they will not show signs of any terrible deed. But garnets are to our rescue, and let's see why.

Garnets are also used to heal broken hearts or relationships that are unhappy. Garnets can treat depression and anxiety by increasing blood circulation and heart rate. Since the color red is considered an energizing color and garnets are also red, it can stimulate your blood circulation. So, the next time when you are experiencing moments of low spirits or facing any kind of depression, try choosing a lovely garnet necklace, garnet bracelet, or garnet earring. And the best part is that you can even gift them to a loved one as a Valentine's Day gift or any other special occasion.

The Chakras Linked to Garnet

Have no idea about chakras? Don’t worry, we’ll explain!

Chakras are believed to be energy centers within the body, according to certain spiritual traditions, particularly those stemming from Hinduism and Buddhism. Each chakra is associated with specific qualities, functions, and aspects of human experience, including physical, emotional, and spiritual elements.

Now let's discuss what Chakra points garnet crystals can hit:

Solar Plexus Chakra
The gold-orange shades of garnets are used for the sacral or the second chakra which is at the front of the pelvis below the naval. So what is it used for? It's there to control energy flow at the center of gravity. As far as red and black garnets are concerned, they heal the base chakras by fighting off traumas in the body.

Crown Chakra
Almandine garnet is linked to the root as well as the crown and heart chakra. The crown chakra qualities resemble its name as it is one of the highest of the chakras and lightest as well. The crown chakras pull the spirit back to the center and balance all the other chakras.
